He has you in a good place - believing him and you feel sympathetic. Very easy to work you over there.

Besides he may not come alone and follow you thereafter. Please stay away.

Ok. I'm hoping he won't call me back.
I was feeling really sorry for him.
But I guess that was the point.
Pity because he did a good job on the pressure wash. I would have used him again.

Gosh. I just got a text from another number, claiming to be his wife, asking if we can meet at the bank at noon tomorrow.

Just say so sorry it's not going to work but I'm happy to send confirmation from my bank for your bank to have a look at or you can send me your banks denial

Thanks. I will do that.
I also texted her back that I looked into the matter and was told that Zelle payments can never be reversed. And that she should try calling Zelle customer service.

I am so annoyed.
I called the woman who recommended this pressure washer and she said that a lot of women in the neighborhood use this guy. He is pretty stupid for ruining his reputation like this.

He is hoping that he can fool you and you will believe it and not pass it on.
How can you pass it around your neighbourhood to be aware about this scam??

I suddenly had a bit of a bad feeling that he does have your address....

I already called two neighbors- just to ask if he had done this to them as well. And they said no.

I got this text from her (the person who claims to be the wife):

I could give them a call and see if that helps, I went to the bank personally and they called the 24 customer service they said they couldn't help so they transferred me to the fraud department stating that your bank requested that amount back reporting it as fraudulent payment and I asked her what can be done to get this hold off my zelle she stated that you had to call and say the payment was not fraudulent, so that's when I called my husband and told him what was happening

Will they give you the case number that you can call them up or a statement showing it has been blocked?

They aren't going to do it to everyone they work as so that the name isn't smeared. If they keep doing a good job, here and there tell someone the money didn't come through the person will do like you if you didn't have Imamother, ask around hear no one had this problem and pay again not to make a chillul Hashem and move on not telling anyone else...

They can give them fraudulent info. She can’t call anything they tell her to call. Also if she calls zelle directly I don’t think they can give her any info about their account.

If something happens you fight your own account. There is nothing the person on the other end can do. But if something had happened your bank would see it on your end too.

Op, may be a silly question but are you 100% sure that this is the same guy that did the service and not someone spoofing his number?

She should ask for the fraudulent info identifying the case telling them ' I'm not sure what time exactly I'm going to be available in the next few days so if I have the information I can stop by the bank when I have a minute or two'
Yeh, don't call any number they give you, find out the department you need to call and Google search the number from a reliable website.

I had this once with a service done to my house. I payed with PayPal as I had previously paid this worker. They called me a few weeks later to say I never paid. I told them I sent PayPal as always and they said our PayPal account was closed down months ago so Please submit another form of payment. Now I work with PayPal and I know their system well. If an account was closed down, the payment would never go through and the funds would be returned to me. I had confirmation that the payment went through. We went back and forth for many months until they stopped calling me. It's absolutely a way to try to get extra cash from unsuspecting and trusting customers.

Not sure what you mean.
I had his contact saved, and he called from that number.
He knew the date and the amount I paid for the service.
