Thank you for sharing. This highlights the insanity of it all. Why on earth do two young adults just starting out in life need $20k worth of jewelry and $10k worth of silver.

Why do they need furniture for $30k in their tiny starter apartment?

That in itself is $60k right there!!! I won't even touch upon the others. It's beyond insane to have such societal expectations, even more so now when so many are struggling immensely with finances.

Can we please try to not to get negative. I really want to see more numbers and if people get negative then more people will not Want to share their numbers. I do understand that some numbers will be below average, some average and some above average.

I’m a SM in the litvish community, been doing wigs for many years. Most Kallahs get 2 wigs plus a fall or pony or some 3rd throw around. But since inflation has hit the crazy numbers it has I’ve had more and more kallahs getting 1 wig and 1 fall. And that’s FINE!!! They are the same much married Smile

))
That would total around 3800-4200 with both wigs

Also 30k on furniture is kinda a funny joke if your on yad shniah of similar and you see young couples posting their bedroom sets with like 8 pieces that’s the parents from spent 10k on and no one even wants it for $1500..

There's a huge difference there.
It usually includes the flowers, singer, photographer, and badchen.

Chasuna malls aren't cheaper than buying in other places.

I got married 3+ years ago satmar and my wedding was around 70K and very very standared nothing fancy at all.
Also take in mind the williamsburg apartment hunt is insane so my parents paid 3/4 months rent b4 my wedding to be secure with the apartment - and it still needed alot of work which also costed a lot of money..

Having made quite a few chassanas, don't try to figure it out. Just do what you have to do in your pay bracket and let Hashem take care of it. With every Simcha comes a brochoh and I really saw that happen. If you try to figure out where you will get the 100,000's, the math doesn't work.

A lot of things depend on city. Parents married off in Monsey and BP. BP was cheap hall - the price per side was what the price for both sides together was in Monsey…

This is ridiculous.

My wedding all in both sides 15 years ago was 30k. I imagine with inflation it would be 40k now.

It was a nice takana hall, very simple gifts, second hand free furniture, gown from a gmach, housewares from Walmart and target.

If ur rich sure go crazy. If ur not then grow up and stop pretending to be.

Not sure where ypu are taking these numbers from.. I can argue each one . Ibdidnt total it.. and I have no clue whatsoever what marrying off my 3 children cost.
But these numbers are pretty insane for average people.
And also why does everyone only tale issue with silver, jewelry and furniture? (Which I doubt anyone is paying these days... about 15 years ago people did $20-24, 000 sets) not Mayne only the very wealthy. It's not the norm. These are actually long term items.
Why in the world does a kallahs gown amd the mechiteneste gown have to be rented no less... for for one night.. at these insane prices?
But again
. It is possible to spend way less..
But then again there are so many expenses not listed here...
