Dies anyone know how to make a homemade powder soup mix substitute? How do I come close to replicating the flavor? They are very versatile and not just for soup, but so unhealthy (and also someone in the family needs to be low sodium) so I'd like to figure out a way to replace. Specifically thinking of onion soup mix and chicken soup mix.

I don't use soup mix in anything. I saute onions as a base for my soup, then I'll often saute my main vegetable (let's say zucchini) with the onion for like 15 min. Then add other vegetables and water. I'll spice with salt, garlic, black pepper, cook and then blend. It's always delicious.

I should clarify, I don't use it in soup, I mage soups like you do. But I have been using it more like a spice blend in sauces, rubs, or to sprinkle on roasted veggies. I'm looking for ways to substitute that.

1 tsp each table salt, dried minced onion, and dried minced garlic.

when I cook for family member who needs low sodium, I fry a ton of onions that I use that in everything plus lots of spices. I like Trader Joe’s 21 seasoning.

Trader Joe's umami spice is supposedly a good dupe for soup mix (so I've heard but I don't really use either)
