Bnos penina- please only answer if you actually send there

If you send to bnos penina are you happy there? Do you know why it has such a bad reputation? Why are so many people pulling out every year? Why do other schools not want to accept girls from there?
What’s the story with the principal? Some say she’s amazing and others say really not nice things
I’m getting mixed messages some people are very happy some are or were really not?
I’m not looking to gossip just trying to get real information here as this is something we’re considering but there seems to not be a clear answer why so many people stay far from this school

The school started as a Sefardi school and did not take off
R' Matisiuhu Salmon got the Pashkus to take over.

The school has an identity crises every few years a different type sends there. People look at it as the school that you go to when you can't get into any other place. It is one of the only community type school in this town.

The school always struggled to fill classes, there would be some years that classes would be full then it would go back down again.
A few years ago a lot of people who sent to BY of Boro Park moved to Lakewood and I think this was the only place that would take them so they sent there. The school got two classes for most grades, and started to get more Yiddish. The also started to give out Sidder that was Nusch Sefard not Ashcaniz.

As for your questions, I can't answer for you, I have heard,only on Imamother not in real life of people who had bad run in with the principal I never had that.

The people I know who pulled out did because the school was getting to Heimish for them. When they gave out Nusch Sefard sidders I was also thinking about pulling was not interested in the working on it, so my daughter is still there. I know people from other schools who changed there daughters school and did not have an easy time.
A lot of girls in my daughters class just switched to Bnos Haddasa(according to my daughter)

From what I see they are now taking in a lot of Israelis, they always had now it seams more % of the class.

I spoke to someone who taught there before I sent my oldest. She told me that people in Lakewood like the same, when you have a class that multilingual as in the Primary class girls first language can be English, Yiddish, and Hebrew people get nervous.

The academics seam to be on par with all my nieces some who go to more academic schools.

I sent and pulled out 7 years ago.

Some questions that you should ask

What's the staff turnover?
What's the class turnover?
Who is there to talk to when something goes wrong?
How do they handle bullying? Do they believe the child?
How do they handle behaviors or learning styles that are less typical?
Are their punishments fitting the crime, consistent with other schools? Are they more lenient, more severe, or erratic?
Do they help the girls get into high schools?

These were issues that made us pull out 7 years ago.
I would encourage you to look into these, not anonymously, people that you know and trust

We send and are very happy. Have had more than one kid in the school. We always liked and respected the principal. From what I understand, shes very accepting and when people hear that, it makes them not want to go there. Seems to be a fact with schools, that if youre very picky about acceptance, then suddently you get very popular, hence the groups of girls who leave. And like the above poster said, the school did get more heimish girls, which pulled the direction fo the school into a more heimish school. And our daughter got into a good high school withput a problem BH

Who wouldn’t want a nice accepting principal? So the fact that it’s becoming heimish is making people leave? Lakewood needs a heimish school so she should be filling up faster. Somehow it’s the chassidish heimish people I know who are not happy and leaving. Still confused. And I heard from a few people who were being bullied there.

When I sent, it was regular Lakewood, mostly oldests who couldn't get into Bais Faiga because we had no pull. Similar to Bnos Devorah and Bnos Orchos Chaim who both opened at the same time.

Over a five year span, most of my daughters friends pulled out, and then we did.
I don't know why everyone else pulled out. By us, it was not about the crowd but because there were issues that we needed dealt with.

The Heimishe/Brooklyn crowd started coming as we left

My daughter graduated from there and the principal definitely helps the girls get into hs.
Bh my daughter got in right away. And I never had any issues with the principal.

My girls are many years apart, I am starting to look into schools too..
Interesting though almost all my neighborhood sends to bnos penina..
