Hi! I am looking into sending my daughters to Ateres Bais Yakov in Monsey. I want to know more about the crowd and if its a stable school? Like do the girls have the same classmates or there's lots of changes every year.

The best thing to do is call the school and make an appointment for a tour, and then go from there.

There used to be some YSV girls that would go to ateres for high school. It doesn't seem to be like that anymore.

I did call the school and go down. The feels I got is that the school is so warm n almost feels like a family. I want to hear from a parents perspective what they felt in terms of stability and there childs happiness. Do the girls stay with the same classmates or there is a lot of girls coming n going each year? And the types of homes and families the girls come from.

Thank you so much!! I appreciate any input Smile

Can you ask them for names of current parents? I'm sure they can help you. I think they've gotten more stable, however they had a lot of transitions around 2018-2022 when Bnos Leah and BY of Pomona opened.

To be honest, it currently has a pretty bad reputation. From my daughter's class at ysv I don't think any (out of 30) applied there. I use ysv as an example because it's a pretty mainstream school. Some went to bym, byr, shiras miriam, pe'er, machon orah, ahavas, and breuers. Not one to Ateres. I heard there are some drug problems there. It is very different then how it was years ago. I don't know any of this first hand but I would be careful and do alot if research if you are considering it. My feeling is that Ahavas is how Areres used to be 10 to 20 years ago.

She said she’s talking about elementary. They had some rough years but I think it’s doing better now. I was speaking to someone who’s daughter is graduating this year and her daughter is very happy.
Best is to speak to current parents ask the school for a class list or numbers of parents

Correct, I am talking about the elementary. Can you give me a background of the home that this girl comes from?
I went down to the school and saw the younger classes have 12-15 girls per grade which is nice. I am getting very mixed reviews when asking around. For the most part the parents that send there are happy n that's why they continue to send there Smile

I sent my daughter there until 2018. So I know some of the current 8th grade families. It's a mix of former Chassidish, Israeli and a few middle of the road orthodox (YSV type). We left because at that time the school didn't have a class for my younger daughter and because they had too many closures because of their building issues (it's been resolved since). I loved the warmth of the school as you mentioned and I'm considering their high school.
