Your point was that some words are pronounced differently than how they are spelled in Hebrew.
There are many words in English that sound different than how they are spelled. I sometimes hear people say sigsdy instead of Sixty. Or sevendy.
Or baground instead of background. |
More that consonant sounds surrounded by other consonant sounds are rarely pronounced as crisply as they would be at the beginning of a word or after a vowel, so they can end up sounding identical to other consonant sounds.

Gimmel and kof/kuf are in the same group of letters- back of tongue to pallet letters.
(All letters are grouped by the part of the mouth we use for example Alef, ayin, ches, hey are from the throat)
There are places in commentaries that they are interchangeable. I’d have to look up examples

Fleishik-actual Yiddish word |
Could I take issue with this? Both the actual word and the pronunciation is Fleishig. In yiddish it's spelled with a ג, not a ק.

Interesting. My husband pointed out the whole Gadaffi vs Qadaffi spelling machlokes as an example where people seem to interchange the two sounds (though in this case I assume the actual pronunciation is an Arabic sound that does not translate perfectly to English).
