For that age, get a railing that you can lock him into the room. He can roam his room freely but not come out. Once he's asleep you can unlock. (I wouldn't keep it locked overnight for safety reasons.)
The waking early us probably becuase he falls asleep late. And it also affects behaviour.
Sleep begets sleep.
My 2.5 year old was a TERROR now over yom tov. She's nicely setting in now over the week. And yes, I have a crib tent from when she was just about 18 months.
I don't close it for naps. But at night I must becuase she can wake up randomly and quietly do unsafe things. (When I forgot to pin in locked she did just that. It was a miracle my other kid in another room woke!!!

My 3 year old is like this but he's a perfectly normal kid. He's an angel by his morah he just doesn't do well with no structure or with being bored. Bed is boring for him. I found that if I turn on a story cd or if I give him a sensory toy he does very well with calming down to fall asleep. He also still needs his pacifier to fall asleep.
Idk your kid but don't take what other players say at face value. Most things are not that complicated

While I am no chinuch expert - I have found w almost all of my 8 children kah that 3 yrs old is when the children rly need the love AND discipline quite a bit! And they typically accept it well. Please please please get a mentor, take a parenting class or even what Jo frost on YouTube for tips! Kids crave structure and thrive on it at this age and if u don’t give it they end up getting tons of negative attn which rly hurts them. My 3 yr old right now was ruling the roost for a while but rly is turning the corner. I use Jo frost mehalech for bedtime and discipline and love seryl Berman too

Op your son might have adhd |
She probably means ADHD is not diagnosed before 5. A lot of typical 3-year-olds act like they have ADHD and alcoholic. Severe ASD can be detected as early as 3 months old and it's often diagnosed before 2 years old.
(Which is why so many younger kids get slapped with the ASD label cuz there isn't anything else available at that age...)

He was an amazing sleeper until he leaned how to climb out of his crib and given his age we put him into a bed. That is when the bedtime issues started. He has freedom suddenly!
The hitting and kicking and spitting I feel is also relatively normal and age appropriate. Doesn’t mean I’m managing or handling it well because I’m not! |
Crib tent.

Maybe things changed but when my older ones were little they didn't diagnose higher functioning asd too early as some behaviors are within the normal range for a terrible 2-3 & they would wait & see how things progress over time.
I think government sponsored aba has pushed people to diagnos early.

Lack of sleep will do that, some kids literally need 10-12 hours of sleep or their behavior is the worst! See if the pediatrician can do something about this. Also, maybe the school? Mine hates the school and got way better after I switched.

For sure the lack of sleep is contributing big time. He was a huge sleeper. He loves playgroup and does great there

I wrote earlier to get him evaluated if his behavior was like this across the board (ie, in school as well). I should've clarified, I didn't mean for anything specific, or for ASD or anything.
Could just be a minor speech / comprehension delay, which is what we are dealing with. If your kid isn't understanding your instructions or requests, and he's not understanding some of what's doing on by morah, it can cause behavior challenges as well. I'm just giving one example. Not saying that's your issue.
I just find that when getting evaluated, you can figure out whats normal wild behavior, and what's not. In our situation, my son's behavior was like this at morah as well. He started speech therapy and a few months in, I'm seeing a huge difference BH.
