My child going to Israel iyH for this zman. How do they have access to a phone for safety/ calling relatives/ car service etc when they first land, before getting the yeshiva approved kosher phone in israel? He has a kosher flip phone now in America but I assume it won't work in israel.

He can ask someone to borrow their phone at the airport? He doesn’t need to phone a car service, he just goes outside and they’re all lined up there. It’s a big van and they wait until all the seats are filled and then they go. I think they’re all safe companies. But maybe someone else could chime in about that.

Add global calling to his regular cell phone plan just for those few days so it works in Israel.

Only smartphones work internationally, flip phones don't necessarily.
I have this with my sons travelling between Europe and USA.
I just tell them to get a message to me as soon as they can.
They just pick up taxis at the airport.
In an emergency they can ask another person to use their phone. Or payphones. My son once got stuck and asked a random person to use their phone.
I grew up before cellphones and travelled all the time with no phone at all. We all survived.

Also, my son has my credit card, it alerts me everytime he spends money. So I often track him through that.

My daughter's kosher flip phone has global calling and works both in E"Y and Europe.
