Apparently there's being a demonstration against bochurim needing to enlist in the IDF, which honestly in my opinion in not the right time or place for this, but who's asking me, right?

I thought for sure someone on this site would know when it's taking place since there are people from so many areas and communities
I need to pass by there and I'm trying to figure out when I need to leave depending on if alternate routes will need to be used at that time

Not often.
Did it recently for shabbos simcha. And see no reason to not do if the weather plays along. It’s a super pleasant walk, and saves me from spending the whole shabbos away from my family.

1 hour 35 min on a decent pace, Up to 2 hours depending on the walkers and if a stop is necessary.

I see it was postponed, but I have so many questions.
The nypd was going to shut it down so they could protest, or were they themselves planning to shut it down just by protesting?
Why in the world at grand army plaza? Who's recruiting bochurim at grand army plaza? The times I've been there, there's like a sprinkling of frum Jews passing through. I'm worried it would be a huge chillul hashem. The pro-Hamas people shut down traffic all over and every time they did it, there were tons of people hating on them all over social media. Why draw that attention to ourselves from people who have nothing to do with their issue?

Isn't this an Israel issue? Why would NYC have a protest about a draft in Israel. I'm so confused.

It's a satmar protest. I'd say almost all imas here disagree with it so do most yidden. It is planned with police support of course. Nyc and the whole usa has always been a place of freedom of speech which includes protesting whatever is on someone's mind. There are anti israel protest around country constantly. Brooklyn Bridge all of Manhattan have been taken over multiple times by Palestinian (not so peaceful) protests.
I am only explaining what this is about.
I am not endorsing anti israel or anti idf ideology in any way. My (chasidush) children are well aware we daven for all of klall yisroel and the non jews see us as one identity as we are so we must always be careful not to say anything against our land or family that can be held against us byvthe world. They are also well informed that attending any such events (as teenage boys tend to love action) they are violating all hashkafos they where raised with.
