How common are pinworms?

1 - I was VERY clear that this is not the case most of the time, just that I see it on this site often.
2 - Then this does not apply to you.
3 - You must be new on this site if you believe everyone washes their hands, and I'm saying at home. At least once a year on this site there are a few threads with polls asking just this, and people freely say they do not have soap in their bathrooms, or they don't think you have to wash your hands.

what is sanitzer? how is it diff? it was used during covid...

Regular hand soap should be kept by all sinks.
Sanitizers are great for one offs but not daily use unless during a pandemic or when around very sick people as its not good for the skin, soap is just as effective.

I haven't heard anything against anti bacterial so I cant help on that

I think it's a genetic thing. Some kids get and others don't. B"h I never had to deal with pinworm even though I'm the messy type. I let my kids play in the mud, dirt and with stray cats.
I don't get around to washing linens very often.
On the other hand, I have a relative that is so into cleanliness. Her house is spotless, the kids only play in clean places and she is constantly washing their hands. Her kids have pinworm very often.
I wonder why some kids are more sensitive to catching it.

I have 4 kids and one of them have pretty often. It's clearly coming from sugar. (sippies nosh is the worst) My doctor recommended a medication that u take twice and gets rid of pinworms for long term.

I'm not surprised to see this question now after simchas torah with all the junk the kids ate. In my experience certain candies such as winkies cause it to come out. Also sugar in general. Doctors say there's no proof to this theory but Jewish mothers have seen this time and again.

This is the classic microbe vs terrain argument and as always the answer is its both. Nobody thinks the sugar itself gives rise to pinworms. But sugar makes the gut a very hospitable place for pinworms to propagate. All kids ingest pinworms eggs at some point or another but not all kids become infected/infested. Terrain matters.

Def related to gut health. Winkies and sippies are notorious for helping the pinworms multiply and get jumpy on a sugar high.

I recently heard of a really good trick and bh bh bh so far it has really worked.

You boil up a bunch of garlic cloves, let it boil for a 2-3 few min. Add to a bath and let kid soak for at least 20 min. But not much longer.
Repeat for at least 3 days in a row.

After trying EVEYTHING including meds, this is what got rid of it the fastest and the longest between infection/infestation.
It's usually one kid in my house that brings it home and within 2 weeks of her complaining, some of my other kids are complaining too. It's always the same few kids. But it always starts with the one.
And she's a thumb sucker.... thumb sucker's are pinworm magnets. (I haven't found "the" trick for that yet. I'm open to suggestions.)

I have also never heard of it except on this site. I have 5 kids and ba"H have never dealt with this. I have never met anyone who has discussed this happening to their kids, and I have never had a pediatrician in my almost 20 years of rasing kids ever mention this to me (having brought in multiple children for rashes and sleeping issues...)
