How common are pinworms?

Yeah. We did that. Including picking out the most minute garlics and inserting thru the back. Then putting in underwear. It didn't work. I tried literally EVERYTHING down to giving fresh pineapple juice dialy cuz someone said it kills it.

Somehow the garlic gets absorbed thru the soaking. It's painless, scentless as soon as you're out of the bath (it really is!), easy becuase they anyways that a bath before bed.
We do fresh pj's every day. And wash linen every 1- 2 weeks (unless I know they are infected). There isnt much to do to avoid it. Other than getting her to stop sucking her thumb.

So weird, I haven't dealt with pinworms for quite a while. Yomtov, my 5 year old had symptoms and she had pinworms. My kids were given winki lollies in shul. I was busy all day doing laundry.

Do you always have to treat pinworms? I feel like they come and go. Sometimes more active then others. What happens if left untreated?

Besides for hand washing it they also come from not wiping down there completely. If you have a kid getting them often you may need to have them use baby wipes to wipe after #2.
Also for any one suffering, a bit of vasaline in the tush helps if they wake up at night and feel itchy.

Sorry to let you all know , according to my dr, at any given time 75% of people have pinworms. For those of you that never dealt with it , you probably just didn’t know your kids had it 😬not everyone shows symptoms

That is true!
My sister once did some fancy post chemo vegan detox on some Texan ranch. And they warned them that on a specific day of the detoz they will be jumping from pinworms. almost ALL the woman were complaining..... After another 2-3 days jt went away.
it's just that it lives in most people's guts. Most ppl are able to keep there microbial balance in there. Those that are not.... well....

I had pinworms as a child but it was never treated.

I get an occasional one every once in a while.

is it possible for it to disappear by itself when it was never treated?
if a child has a odd one here and there how come they dont multiply?

I agree it does not come from sugar.
it feeds on sugar.

I also thought that 90% of people had inside their body but only some people it affects and bothers? That's why some kids/families seem to get more than others. Correct me if I'm wrong.

To all those mentioning the importance of handwashing are you unaware that people sitting on the same toilet can be passing worms and germs. Ideally seat needs a lysol cleaning between each user but that's not really practical....

You wish it were that easy.
Lysol does not kill pinworm eggs.
And that is chief reason why they are so hard to get rid of from surfaces.

I live in Australia and apparently it’s so common here when kids are in kindergarten. We are so stressed out because we’ve been dealing with it non stop since March! I’ve keep getting it as well since it’s contagious. The kids wake up at night in pain. We’ve tried every medication and nothing works. Apparently they get reinfected in the sand pit.

Not really understanding the question. If they are not coming out, how do you know you have them? What I’m saying is, for every one that comes out, there are hundreds more living inside. It’s not possible for one worm to be living alone.
I don’t think it’s common for a lot to swarm out at once. I have dealt with this issue unfortunately and have never seen that, thank Gd. It’s actually hard to catch them coming out at all, which is why many people are unaware they have them.

All my girls had them from age 2-4. Finally finally they grew out of it. It's really tough. Dealing with this on a nightly basis, feels like forever.
