I'm currently teaching in a school, but I am considering doing babysitting in my home next year instead of going back, but I don't know if the numbers make sense. I am expecting iyH and would like to be able to stay home with my baby and watch a few others. I was thinking of babysitting 6-12 Months (Not sure what the age ranges are for babysitting). I prefer to get an assistant. If I would have an assistant, how many babies is average to take. I don't want it to be too many but I also need it to make sense if I have to pay an assistant. How much do you think I can charge? I was thinking of having an assistant and having a total of 6-8 babies. Please lmk how much you think going rate is around and if that amount of babies is too much or what is average. Or any other info I'm missing. Ty!

You can easily charge $800 a month if you have a 1:4 ratio, so 8 babies and one assistant.
If you pay the assistant 3k a month, you come home with $3400 a month.

Pretty sure you’d have to do really good hours to get $800. 8:30-3:30 or 9-3:30/4
I have heard of babysitters doing 9-2:30 for that price but the mothers feel like they are paying above average

I spoke to someone and she told me that people who are doing 30 hours a week are charging $800\month.

I am OOT not in lakewood and charge $1000/ month for 9-3. Sure not everyone can send because it costs more, but I have 7 babies plus an assistant.

$800-850 a month. You can do by the month this way you get paid for yom Tov, and can work on a school schedule so you’re off when you’re kids are off- if you have older kids

Also you don’t have to do till 1 on Friday, you can do till 12:30

At that point she might as well take 4 kids without an assistant and make the same amount.

IMHO if you charge $800 or more then you can't go by a school schedule and have off so often
You'd have to be more like a daycare schedule...maybe off only erev yom tov

babysitting is usually around $7/ hr which is easily $800 a month. I think you can even charge $8 with a ratio like that. I unfortunately paid $800/month for a babysitter that kept taking more and more babies, I had to pull out. It is definitely the going rate.

She said she prefers to get an assistant...she'll come home with the same amount of money, but she'll have a second pair of hands and someone there if she needs to run to the bathroom or take a phone call.
