Waffles with cream cheese and ketchup
Ds 17 says that the only foods that don't go with ketchup are cereal, sweets, and yogurt. Ds 15 recently started dipping cereal and cookies in ketchup.

My husband eats ketchup with chopped liver 🤢

My DH loves liver with mayo and ketchup. I can't figure out why ruin the liver like that? I wonder if it's a thing they did in Yeshiva.

Boiled potatoes and butter milk was standard growing up. I don't see it much elsewhere.

Also spaghetti with cocoa and sugar. Could be that's standard in other places, but I haven't seen it outside of my parents' house.

Both of the above are very former Soviet Union. Any chance you or your parents grew up there?
I love them both.

Kasha in chicken soup instead of noodles. I grew up with it and interestingly enough I'm the best mommy when I make it for supper.

I very much prefer it this way. It’s very good.
I love kasha. Some of the unusual things I make with it are kasha blintzes and kasha with sugar and milk. I also like to mix it with mashed potatoes. 😋

Cottage cheese and sprinkles. Guess it was my mother's way of getting us to eat some protein but I still find it delicious.

BT here. These are both midwestern traditions. Strictly speaking, the french fries are supposed to be dipped into the Wendy’s frosty. Soft serve ice cream works pretty well if you don’t have a frosty and I still do it (with kosher soft serve!).

Ranch dressing goes on everything. That is a major Midwest thing too!

I grew up in Florida but we did french fries in milkshakes (or frosties) there too! It's the best.

Am I the only one who thinks all you have said is normal? Hehe.. perhaps my whole cooking is weird.
I add interesting things to challah as topong while baking, like anise or polenta. Not weird for me, but for sure for others.

May I ask if you are South African?

Most of what you all might think is weird, sounds perfectly normal.
Like chips in Ketchup. Hello, where do you think the idea of pre-packaged ketchup flavored chips came from??

Scrambled eggs & Salami ? I make it all the time for a quick and easy supper.
I was thinking of weird combos, like pickles and ice cream. or the time when DH bought french fries, He thought he was adding salt to them, (and who puts a sugar dispenser in a pizza store?) When we tasted them, we realized, he sprinkled sugar. We look back now, and call it the "Sugar Fries" edition. and they actually good.
