DH is officially the breadwinner since he goes out to work every day. I joke with him that he's lucky he married me. I may be a SAHM but I brought yerusha and investments into the marriage that bring in a second income without having to pay for childcare or other expenses that add up when both spouses are working.

My husband is the main breadwinner, and I am unemployed because I’m still in school. However, I will likely make more than him when I graduate and start working.

We both work, I make more than him. But we need both our incomes. So who's the breadwinner?

If one or both of them has their own business, it can be much less straightforward and vary more year to year.

I voted that I’m the breadwinner and my husband is unemployed, but the truth is he does side jobs and earns a small amount from kollel and we wouldn’t be able to live off my income alone.

Similar, and I chose that I'm the breadwinner and he's employed. He works in multiple positions to bring in that extra that's the difference for us between make it or break it.

It’s hard to say.

Until recently my salary was always much more than his.
But he does investments, real estate, side work (with no income just earnings back into business) beside his salaried job. So it was hard to say even though it should be straight forward.

Like my salary and day to day earnings were more and what supported us for many years.

But his investments built us wealth and a nice passive income today.

Today his actual salary is just under mine.

Husband is chronically unemployed or underemployed.
We both have careers and graduate degrees but his has a higher earning potential.
I work FULL time out of the home and he has like 10 hours a week from home he feels is "so much" he can't do more than 1 way of carpool. How dare I ask him to move laundry to dryer.
And at end of the day? I am the one cleaning, organizing and doing laundry. And I coordinate appointments for all the kids.
While I make the bulk of the income and work more hours, and out of the home.

Hugs. That sounds difficult. I wish you would be able to put your foot down and have him do a bulk of the housework. Sounds like you're burning the candle of both ends and one day you will collapse.

Why is it either/or? We're both breadwinners, whether our salaries are in the same ballpark or not.

. I'm sorry to hear that. But with a salary this high, you have the resourcesl to leave him and start a better life elsewhere.

Sounds exactly like us. My job theoretically earns more but I don’t work full time.
He manages side jobs and the passive income (sometimes not so passive).
