I recently overheard a mother called her daughter “chassida”. First I thought she was saying “chassidisha” until she said her name a few times. Lol. Was my first time hearing such a name.

If I say my mother's name it's a dead give away to anyone from my town and beyond.
It's actually not a 'jewish' name but at her naming she was called that and a Hebrew name so halachicly when davening you use it.
She was called after an aunt. It's a Czech -Slovak origin and most likely she is the only frum women with that name.

She did say we aren't allowed to name anyone after her with that name.

He wrote Finkel as not still in use but I heard of one

Chasida is a type of non kosher bird.

My great-grandmother's name was Sussa (no, it's not the same as Shosha). My mother was called Sussie after her.
Another grandmother was Reesa. Her daughters were Sussa, Chantza and Aiga. HYD.

Assuming we might be speaking of the same family....my friend told me that originally her great-grandfather accidentally named his daughter Sarah. As they all went by English names, he forgot that Sarah was his wife's name! The Rabbi changed Sarah to Serach, and now all the descendants have a Serach....
