could we all share recipes that we made from it (and maybe start a thread for other cookbooks) and how they were- hard, easy, delicious, flopped.... Question Question

In addition to the recipes I mentioned above (mostly desserts) from KBDEntertains, I also made the ravioli with four cheese sauce, the shepherd's pie, and a salmon-pasta dish. None were difficult. And they were great!

I like the cookbook a lot (which, by the way, is not meant to be recipes solely for entertaining: she just has party formats available throughout the book). There are some difficult ingredients to obtain, but for the most part, it's pretty standard stuff. I was looking through it (again!) over Shabbos, and found about ten recipes that I'd like to try that don't look too time-consuming or obscure (in terms of ingredients).

It's often the picture that can throw you off: in her picture, the mashed potatoes in the shepherd's pie are piped on in this fancy-looking design. I just smeared the mashed potatoes over the rest of it, and it tasted just fine (duh!)

Also, when the ingredients are a little bit obscure, I just substitute, or change the recipe altogether. I have found that the recipes still come out tasting good.

I would highly recommend KBDE. :-)

Can you tell me which recipes you make from the Kosher Pallette?
I bought it a couple of months ago, thinking it was less fancy than KBD. But I feel like it was a waste of $$ & it wasn't cheap. The recipes seem way too complicated.
I haven't used it yet & I don't know when I will.

Hey- I just recently bought the recipe book KBD for kids- I really love it!

It has great ideas, nice pics and step by step directions, for kids, na, I find it really handy, they have nice simple dinners, side dishes, desserts, drinks etc. My Dh enjoys it as well, if you ever need a hand in the kitchen your dh may enjoy cooking side by side with you after you've read this book.

For those of you who like the sound of it- definately try it out!

My daughter's teacher raffles off prizes every Friday for her class.(She gives out raffle tickets during the week for class participation) Couple weeks ago my daughter won this book as a prize. There are some really great recipes in there. My daughter baked a chocolate cake for shabbos from there, it was yum! I made Fajitas for dinner one night from there and my hubby loved it.

I just made the peanut butter cookies from there with my son, we all love them. Have to hide them as they are extremly fattening.

One thing my mil pointed out (go figure), lots of times the book adds in ie onion powder/mix instead of a real onion bc the book is designed for kids, and they want the kids to do it any easy/safe way possible, so you gotta use your brain sometimes and see if the ingrediant can be replaced by "real" food.

I made the "rainbow salad" and "mac 'n cheese", my dh made the "creamsicle" and I think tom. night for dinner were gonna have the "brocolli beef lo mein".

So far so good Very Happy !!!

I saw the sample pages, and those are the unhealthy ones..but

I can't "poll" because I only have one- Kosher Palette. I only use one recipe from there. I check through it periodicaly. the recipes seem complicated, or rather I don't have many of the ingredients at home. I do love looking at the pictures though!
