Do I put the pastrami directly in water in the crock pot or on top of a foil rack so that the water only reaches halfway to steam it but doesn’t actually touch the pastrami?
Pastrami is wrapped in foil. Ty

I’d also do in water. That’s how I do it in oven.
Like you’d cook a corn beef. Corn beef cooked in water doesn’t lose seasonings. .

My pastrami comes in a special plastic bag and you are supposed to put the closed bag into the crock pot with water.
