I am trying to eat healthier and lose weight. I don't want to go on a diet specifically but I would like to make some rules or guidelines for myself. I notice my eating habits are really all over the place. I'm sure if I was more intentional, I would be more successful.
Can you share what guidelines you follow in your health (weightloss) journey?

ETA: I'm not asking for advice about what you think I should do. I'm asking what you do. I want to cull ideas to create my own guidelines.

Don't eat after 8pm. That's usually when the snacking starts when you're not hungry..

Try ditching junk food, but entirely. No tastes, no exceptions. Try it for a month, but with the intention to keep going after that month.

I just started yesterday. Here’s what I have so far:

-No drinks/soda unless it’s zero cal
-Only quinoa, brown rice or whole wheat sourdough (maybe whole grain pasta if I’m really craving it)
-plate is 50% greens, 30% protein and 20% carbs

Right now I’m trying to fast (except drinks) as long as I can. When I do start eating (each day gets a little later) I only do light snacks (hard boiled egg, mozzarella cheese balls, baby carrots etc) then try to do a healthy dinner

Stop drinking sugar. No juice, soda, sweet tea, or coffee, etc.

I used to drink very sweet coffee. Instead, I switched to putting in half and half with a tiny bit of cinnamon. Very good.

So I try to schedule a major life crisis every few years. Then I stop eating much for a few months and that gets me down to my ideal weight.

I call it the Major Stress Diet. Doesn't work for everyone but works for me. Just reached my goal so no complaints - well for the weight loss part at least. The life crisis part is less pleasant.

I'm on Weight watchers & love it

IF 14/10-ish which gives me more energy. During fasting window, hydrating well

I eat wholesomely, include wholesome treats, as well as occasional regular treats to not feel too deprived

Strength training (over cardio), even just a few minutes here & there

I am 3 months postpartum and in the best shape I think I've been in. I do intermittent fasting (I eat from about 11-7) generally I only eat whole grains, low in any sugar, lots of veggies, and tons of water. I enjoy my treats and eat what I want on Shabbos, but during the week I don't even think about it because I know it's food meant only for Shabbos. It's a lifestyle and I feel good doing it but know it's not for everyone.

No food changes, just that every meal and snack starts with a ton of fresh raw veg or fruit. This way the volume I’m intaking is healthy, and I don’t feel deprived/ restricted in any way. And starting every day with a ten minute workout- consistency is key.

Your plate should be split up into 50% healthy veggies/salad, 25% protein, 25% carbs.
Drink lots of water.
Choose low fat options for dairy products.
Choose whole grain options for breads/pastas/rice...
Limit sodas.

1. Drink half your body weight in oz of water every day. So if you weigh 150 lb you drink 75 oz of water. You can add a tea bag or some zero calorie crystal light or fresh fruit to add some flavor. I like these iced tea bags to add flavoring

2. Don't eat after dinner

3. Majority of your plate should always be vegetables.

4. Whole grains only - no white flour or white rice

No shop bought cookies and cakes.
I do make healthy-ish home made cakes/muffins to satisfy my sweet tooth - eg. banana cake with wholemeal flour, olive oil, and reduced sugar.

Me too except I don’t schedule it, it just happens. I look great as I’m falling apart

Totally! The better I look the worse of my life is... Which is why you should be really careful on complimenting someone on losing weight unless you know they were trying.
