There is a massive beehive attached to a tree in my backyard.
How do I get rid of it???

We had a small one and sprayed it with raid hornet spray and they all died instantly

Find out if it's a bee Hive or a wasp hive.

It's illegal to kill bees in NY state, if it really a bee hive people will come to your house and remove it for free.

Brooklyn really doesn't have bees. We have horrible horrible wasps and hornets.

Brooklyn has tons of bees, and beekeepers! There are apiaries at the museum, in Red Hook and Gowanus, I have friends with one in Kensington.

This sounds like a wasp nest though, and you need an exterminator.

Op do not do this if you have a massive hive. Hundreds of bees can come out and attack you. Call a professional

Dh did it with a massive nest and smaller ones. The sprays are designed to spray from up to 6 ft away. Spray at dusk when activity is low. Bh he was never stung. Really brave though. I stayed inside or at a safe distance lol.

Please don’t call an exterminator if this is a beehive.

There are beekeepers who will move the hive without killing the bees. Bees are an important element of the ecosystem to keep the plants fertilized.

If it is a wasp or hornets nest, that is different and they can be killed as they don’t serve an important ecological need in terms of plants.

Anyone know what large fuzzy ones are?
Also I don’t think a beekeeper would be able to reach my hive. They enter through a crack in the cement of the wall on the side of the steps going down to my basement.

I didn’t mean to seem anti hornets or WASPS 😂 but bees are having a death rate which is impacting pant fertilization.

l know beekeepers will move hives. I don’t know of people who do that for WASPS which can also be destructive to one’s home.

I had no idea, I always thought the smooth non fuzzy ones were bees. So the smoother black and yellow ones are wasps?

There are different varieties of bees.

I am nit an expert but I think the bumblebees and honey bees are furry.
