I walked into the store and didn't expect there to be empty shelves! I heard they are closing Friday! No sales! Just empty shelves!

Because he nebech over invested and was in way over his head. Incredibly sad. And sad that fellow successful businessmen couldn’t help him figure it out.

You did not post in any specific location form, or mention a location.. so people might not know what you're talking about

Know before commenting. People DID try to help. Monsey is a very different town than queens .

Now we need a good supermarket to take over. It has alot of potential.

The Hive is in Airmont,NY.
There are restaurants opening right around there, maybe people were ok shlepping an extra 10-15 minutes to Evergreen.

Hm. Do you know? Or you’re just being rude?

I actually know enough to say what I said. Doesn’t mean no one helped, but I know people who could’ve and didn’t. (I also don’t know how open he would be for their help on their terms but I know they didn’t offer)

I find it sad that someone’s livelihood is going under, and it’s under chit chat. I have a soft spot for business owners.

I think evergreen is taking it over & is opening a Costco type store. Cases/bulk only.

Is somebody taking over? Or it's just closing?

I'm sorry I didn't think it belonged in new York inquiries as that's nyc, so just tried to find out what happened.
I think it is a very big store and probably needed to be divided in 2 or more stores. It's alot of space and costs alot of rent. I almost think it's like what happened to Seasons in Clifton. The rent was alot and a big store costs alot to run. In today's economy and food prices through the roof people are looking to save $$ where they can. I do feel bad for the owner and I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to be a chat about someone who is losing parnasa.

Oh wow! I didn’t realize! Was just there the other day and naively thought the shelves were just emptier cuz people go out of town for the summer. It’s unfortunate. I went 1-2 times a month to get away from the crowds at evergreen.

Delete your quote of her post - she deleted the info in it but it’s viewable in your post.

A business failing is so painful. My heart is with the owner. It was a beautiful store, I enjoyed visiting it when I visited monsey recently.

I was a weekly customer till I wasn't able to do my orders there anymore. It's a great grocery that has great potential. We're sad that it didn't work out . My neighbors are also upset about it. Let's hope someone will take it over and it'll be successful!!!

I loved shopping there. It was so bright and airy, and they obviously put in a lot of effort into it.
It's a pity it's closing.
I feel like they didn't give it enough time.
It can take a year or so for a grocery to get popular.
