My ground flour is basically one long rectangle. The kitchen is on one end, then the dinette, and then was supposed to be a family room but we had to make that our dining room. I would like to put a separation between the dinette and the dining room. I would like to hear what others have done and how it's worked out for them. Ideally I'd love something thag can still preserve the airiness of the open plan, and also something that can be moved somewhat to allow us to use the rooms together. My main reason for closing off is aesthetic: I don't like the look of dinette table and chairs and dining roo table and chairs right next to each other. The ideas I can think of are

Full wall
Half wall from the bottom
Full wall with a window
Just framing and some wall with a large opening
Wall with double French doors
Wall with pocket doors
Some kind of floor to ceiling divider on tracks like glass or wood paneling
Other??

Please share if you've done this and if you're satisfied with your decision
