I am somehow resigned (not really the right word) to the fact he is wanting to do this but I just want him to have a chance to acclimate and know for sure what Israel is like and know the language well.
I dont know but I think if he had a year in Israel under his belt or even 6 months, somehow I would feel more okay.
His two older siblings have lived in Israel and it was hard for both. He has only been to Israel a handful of times for vacation.
He will be going through Garin Tzabar.
Is there already a forum here for parents of soldiers?

Many of the Israeli mothers have children who who have been, are, or will in the the army, and they will probably be happy to answer any questions.
A forum for the mothers of chayalim bodedim is another matter, and I'm not sure there would be enough demand to justify it.

There are Facebook groups. If you PM me I can assist you with that.
There are several of us Imas here who have children who are soldiers. We would all be happy to connect with you and offer support.
Being a mom of a soldier is a wild ride and I can't imagine how helpless the moms overseas feel. It's a big comfort to do the shopping with your child and to see them often and pamper them when they come home for shabbat.
It's harder on the lone soldiers too. Kol hakavod to your son.

We've "adopted" several lone soldiers and BH have 3 of our own. |
Oh, and I liked it without taking the time to open it because I knew I could trust you.
