I had the same thought. I'm guessing it was accidental? In a car accident? Is that really so beyond the pale for a frum publication?

Maybe he shot him?

He was a little too obsessed with guns...?

Also weird how their "father" lost connection with his family once Ima died
And who are imas relatives and when did she die?

Or he is the real father, just not a real Cohen (or kohen). Because the body in the grave is related to the other Cohens.

Personally, I am not currently interested in seeing Penina and Gabe rekindle their relationship (even if he isn't really a kohen in the end).

Seems like you were right about this.

I really enjoyed this weeks.
I just can't believe Rivi's sisters in law, do people act like that in real life?

Is she still in sheloshim? Why were they there anyway? I'm not asking mitzad halachah (there's room for it to be okay), just mitzad have compassion.

I understood that the body in the grave was rivi and gabe's real father, and the real son of the grandparents buried in that family section, but that the person they called Abba that just died is not related to either the kids or the grandparents.

Did I misunderstand?

Good point about the sheloshim.

I thought the dialogue was pretty realistic.

I think you're being outvote. The body belongs in that plot, and Abba is their biodad who assumed that identity for some reason. (Because whether or not Gave and Penina pick up where they left off, the possibility has to exist now that the author's been flirting with it so much.)

Biological father. People generally use the term to refer to an absentee father but who is the biological father. Here, it just seemed understandable to use it to convey that I did believe he was their biological father, even if he'd assumed a different identity.

I'm not. It's really bad, ans I'm sure she regretted it a minute later.
But Suri's husband is at fault for not reining in his wife. He knew the truth.

So Gabe and Rivi are real siblings, and Gabe is probably not a Cohen.
The question is why Abba took on a fake identity?
And if the real Avigdor Cohen belonged in the grave, how did he get there? Who put him there without a marker ? If Abba mistakenly killed him, how could he take his identity without the real Avigdor Cohen family coming to search for him?

Regardless of who’s at fault, a major aveira happened in this week’s serial. We’re all big girls and know it’s just a figment of someone’s imagination, but hamalbin pnei chaveiro is a big deal irl. She had it coming that’s for sure, but out in the real world we have to keep our mouths shut in public even (or especially?) when the other person deserves it.
I have a hard time figuring out the magazines. Some things I wouldn’t mind, like a picture of a rebbetzin, won’t make it past the editorial board. Something else that raises both my eyebrows, like a description of someone embarrassing a relative in front of a whole lot of other relatives, gets past the censors- in Elul no less.
I guess that’s why I’m not on the editorial board.

The halbanas pnei chaveiro went both ways. But sounds like Suri is a chronic perpetrator of this type of avaira, and Rivi finally lashed back. She was in a terribly vulnerable state and she was pushed over the edge.
As an aside, in the same magazine, there was a picture (digitalized) of the face of Kamala Harris. Just saying.
