I’m enjoying this thread even more! Hidden, I like your plot twist. Food, I think the guy in the grave is one father and the guy they call Abba is the other father. I think was they won’t end up being brother and sister. I was a little creeped out by the whole grave thing and missed some weeks but I’m going to follow now so I can see how our imamother ending works out.

I think their father was traumatized by something that happened involving the other guy's death. The paranoia, the story about him freaking out when a driver cut him off, also teaching the kids how to shoot a gun, all make me think trauma. And then he assumed the other guy's identity after he died. I'm not sure why though? Something to do with the kids?

About Penina and Daniel. When Gabe first comes back Hillel refers to Penina with a different last name. Gabe asks if she's married and Hillel answers "maybe?". We never get an answer, but then the name Daniel is mentioned a few times. I certainly had assumed Daniel was her husband. Apparently not.

This is really getting edgy. I don't have a problem with it, just saying.

Just so people know, if they won't be getting their Mishpacha for another day or two, they can read it online.

Agree this story is different not the typical and so well written.

It did allude to the fact that Daniel was the son maybe by saying "how she deals with him, or if he has a hard day" not quoting exactly just picked up that it was about a child not a husband.

Penina still does have feelings toward Gabe. Otherwise she wouldn't still be so hurt and not even want to be in the same room as him.

Any thoughts on the mother? We don't know anything related to the circumstances of her death?

Go to Mishpacha.com and search for Lie of the Land. We do subscribe but I'm pretty sure I don't have to sign in to read.

So far I've always held out till it comes, nothing like a 'real' magazine! So much cosier.

Or he is the real father, just not a real Cohen (or kohen). Because the body in the grave is related to the other Cohens.

Personally, I am not currently interested in seeing Penina and Gabe rekindle their relationship (even if he isn't really a kohen in the end).

Create an account. It’s just a login, it doesn’t involve subscribing to the magazine. Then you can read it online for free each week.

Also, thank you to Hidden for starting this thread. I hadn't heard of the story and just read it today.

Same and I'm really enjoying the story.
I agree with OPs ending.
I wonder what is odd about the DNA results.

You do not need an account. I was able to read the whole thing online.
Just go to Mishpacha.com. I found it by searching by author. Bashi liskar.

I think the father killed one of the kids father in a car accident and quickly buried him in his empty plot and then raised that child. So they're not really siblings.

Oh my gosh. I admit that’s a super cool idea. However… I didn't read this week’s yet but I hope this is not the case because honestly I think it would be beneath Mishpacha to publish such a sensational plot twist.

I had the same thought. I'm guessing it was accidental? In a car accident? Is that really so beyond the pale for a frum publication?

Is chapter 11 out? I don't see it on the Mishpacha website.
