I don't think it matters if the head boards are dark purple. They are not pink.
Just use boyish coloured bedding and it's fine.

My boy has bluish-purple beds.
There are many shades of purple, and depending on the specific shade, it might not be an issue at all.
If the shade leans more towards pink or red, it could be a different story.

Why would red be a problem? That's not a girly colour. It clashes with pink.
