What kind of art? It would vary.

A famous one? Like an investment?

Or a commercial one?

Or Jewish art?

Handmade vs mass produced?

To hang in your home as decor not specifically for an investment. Jewish or not, mass produced or not

I’ve spent over $3,000, and I would spend more if I had more. I value it very much

I've spent quite a bit on good art. Depends on the piece and its attraction to you. I like good investments, so art is important to me in that respect. My most recent piece is a painting by a French artist that is a lovely scene of Venice. Just got it delivered and having it framed. Spent about 5k. Oil on canvas. To each his own.

As an artist, I can tell you that most consumers don't have an inkling how much time and effort goes into producing art. (Not all types, but for sure realistic painting.).
The artist is probably charging less than his or her worth, based on the amount of time invested in it.
People who buy art have to appreciate its value.
If you don't have much of an appreciation, there are plenty of prints or generic pieces you can buy just to put something on the walls.

I don't know, I don't spend so much money on these type of extras.

But if you're the type who spends $1,000 a season on clothing, or buy the expensive furniture, why not invest in artwork? Art is what makes your house beautiful more than anything else.

Mass produced less than 400

Investment pieces or emotional pieces I love, up to 2200. more than that Is simply overpriced unless its a famous artist already selling in the secondary market (my mother was a museum curator).
