Why, is 1k a lot? I feel like that should be grateful that I let them use my house! For 1k a day it sounds like it’s barely worth it!
What if a child has an accident or something?
Can I charge the family?

They should be grateful you let them use your house for 1k??

No you can't charge people for making a mess.

I think you should find a different way to make money.

When people are paying money, it is not a chesed. Why would they be grateful they’re paying your asking price. I’m staying in a hotel now and yes, I’m happy that the place is clean and comfortable, but I’m certainly not grateful that they’re letting me stay here. I think they should be grateful that I picked their place making money. I don’t think this is going to work with, your attitude towards everything. And you have to run a business.

I did it once and there were flies in my house for a week, they did not properly dispose of garbage, left the doors open all Shabbos. I got significantly more than 1k and I worked like a dog with a cleaning lady all day before and after. It’s a huge job.

In terms of liability- check your local ordinances because it might not be legal and then if something happens- you can get get both a huge ticket and your homeowners insurance may not pay etc

As some one who uses Kvation rentals a lot I can tell you this. 1K a night is on the much higher end. What are you offering with it? Just a property with a swing set? People expect more for that price and most likely a much larger group of people. Wear and tear will happen things will get spilled on walls since it would be a larger group. This may not be for you.

And If I were to pay 1K a night the place should be spic span meaning a deep clean for the fridge every time. It takes money to make money. You may not realize but asking some one to shell out 1K a night when most people come for a few nights comes with high expectations.

My mortgage is a lot.
The house isn’t fancy and it isn’t a fancy neighborhood I just thought to give up a house and expect wear and tear I should charge minimum 1k per night.
What, am I a shmatta? Do I have to clean their mess?
I would totally get a cleaning lady but I don’t think it’s a lot to ask 1k….

It’s hard to tell if you are being completely serious or not.
How large is the house that you would charge that much?
If it fits 25 ppl comfortably I can see how you charge that y amount.
Sparkling clean is the only way.
Services do this. Not you.
Accidents are a normal part of life. You can’t charge. You could charge if someone breaks something.
If it’s your private space vs a property you own, I’d think a thousand times if it’s worth it..
You need to use a service that takes pictures for you .
I once to a place that looked beautifully clean and the noticed finger prints in a few pronounced places. I called them real fast. I’m not paying for a place with a previous guest’s fingerprints on the counters and toilet flushers.

People are paying you a HIGH price of 1K a night which is above MOST people's budget else they would have there own place. I would be hurt to know some one thought they are doing me a favor. YOur price is no "doing you a favor price" sorry to burst your bubble. Please keep your favor to yourself. People work hard and save up to go on vacation . Yes we do put on night diapers on our children etc but things happen.....

You sound out of touch with reality for most people who airbnb for a few nights.... Maybe look at some sites first to see what it entails. Yeah part of the job is cleaning up unless you were charging significantly less.... I do this for a business in a busy frum neighborhood. People are here for travel, business's or simchas they are not spending time cleaning your home aside for taking out the trash and stripping sheets possibly.

In general, for people who have done this, what level mess and wear and tear is expected after a stay?

I live in an area with many summer home rentals.
There's a $275 cleaning fee.

You can ask Five Star Relax or the company that will do the bookings for you to give you more logistics.

It's getting worse.
Is tonight a comedy night or something?
Why would anyone do such a favor for you as to spend 1k per night on a not fancy house?

Are you grateful to the grocery owner that he lets you buy bread?

Are you grateful to the bank they let you take a mortgage?

Are you grateful to the municipality they let you use their water? Sewer? Garbage?

Curious what your train of thought is.

For $1000 a night a person can book tthe fanciest hotel out there. $1000 for one night is insane, unless your house is like a palace or has 20 bedrooms and can host multiple families.
