WHAT WAS IN MY KUGEL?!

I made yummy potato kugel for Shabbos. After a few bites I noticed something black and hard in the kugel. There went my appetite as I smashed it and found a few more of those black hard pieces.
Can anyone clue me in??

If it was a potato kugel, it could have been a black spot inside a potato. If you see them, you can remove them, but sometimes it's on the inside of the potato and you can miss it.

I cut my potatoes in half, sometimes in quarters before putting them into the food processor. Most potatoes need to be cleaned. I don't remember it always being like this but some are really ugly. I'm sorry you experienced this.

I cut away stuff from 50% of the potatoes. I can't imagine grating all that into a kugel.
