What can it be and what can I do for it?
DS3 coughs when I wake him up to take him to the bathroom in middle of his sleep , and then when he wakes up in the morning he coughs for an hour or two . Throughout the day I hardly hear it, so it's not like he has a constant cough. But it's been like this for a while already.
I've tried onions in his socks, near his bed, giving him Vitamin C. I feel like I'm missing something. What can it be?

What does the doctor say? Can be allergies, reflux, GI issues, asthma…

Suffice it to say the doctor has been less than helpful in the past. If I know what to ask about I'll be better off. Thats why I'm aksing here before going to the doc.

my son has this since pesach. Doctor said it's not worrisome if it only happens when he lies down, as in sleeping. said it's probably a nasal drip or something like that. nothing to do about it really. just don't be too concerned

Check your account filters.
I had similar. Doc asked a million questions. He figured it was the ac filters. Once the filters were changed it completely stopped!
It might not be it but it's worth a try.

Can you raise the head of his bed? like by putting risers under the legs at the head of the bed. May help with reflux and / or postnasal drip.

My mom had it from dust allergy she developed suddenly. She started changing her linen very often and washed her pillow and duvet in hot water and it stopped.
She also washed the air conditioner filter weekly

Is he sleeping with his mouth open?

Is there possibly mold in the bedroom?

I would try a HEPA air filter and see if it helps

he probably has his mouth open cuz his mouth is open a lot when he's awake too Smile

no visible mold

I can try a filter. Any recommendation?

You need to address the mouth breathing. That alone can be causing the cough, or it can be causing chronic airway infection

what does this mean? isnt it a chicken-egg situation? whatever is causing him to cough is making him breathe through his mouth. I would need to figure out whats causing him to be congested which is resulting in open mouth and dry cough.

Is the open mouth posture new since the cough started? Or was he always a mouth breather?

My Child had this last summer. Took to an allergist and was diagnosed with cough variant asthma. We gave inhalor 2 times a day for two weeks and it fully went away.

Maybe this will be helpful to you?

when he's distracted or doing something he always has his mouth hanging open and tongue sticking out ever since I can remember. We laugh about how busy his tongue is that's how I know.
