Is interesting actually boring?

For some reason whenever I hear the word “interesting” I yawn inside.

Interesting course, interesting book, interesting podcast… I just feel like using the word “hilarious” instead would make me actually want to go to the course, read the book, or listen to the podcast. Too bad it usually isn’t interchangeable.

Anyone else feel like interesting is actually boring?

I hear you. Everyone has such different tastes; what’s interesting to you may be boring to me.

However.

Same goes for hilarious. Like I think Ali Wong is hilarious. Lots of people disagree.

As long as nobody says your new anything (hat, shoes, bag, dress, house, husband, recipe, son-in-law,etc.) is "interesting." Or "different." That's what polite people say when they mean "weird."
