We used to be a fun family, but now most of the time my teenage daughter is the only one around in the evening, and I feel like our house is so boring for her. She doesn’t have a ton of friends, so she’s not constantly busy with her social life like many kids her age. I like to go to bed early. I feel kind of bad for her. I’m curious what other houses look like in the evenings.

Same as yours. Though she is busy with friends BH. How early do you go to sleep? (just curious - and jealous LOL). My teen does go to sleep reasonably early herself.

Wow, are u me?
The younger years I did so much with my kids in and out of the house. Now my boys are in yeshiva until late. My teenage daughter comes home from school and I’m busy with the baby and Littles u til at least 9:30. I have work to do too and she tells me that we’re such a boring family. She spends time with neighbors but says that most girls are busy with their sisters and she has none. It makes me feel so bad for her. I try to make time to play games with her shabbos or Sunday and encourage her to make plans out of the house but it’s harder I. The winter, so yes we are a boring family too …

If I didn’t feel guilty I’d get into bed at 9 on the nights when I’m not too busy! Realistically it’s later in the 10 range, so she’s anyway getting ready for bed. I guess it’s more that I’m crashing earlier and don’t have a ton of energy for her. But even if I did, I have no idea what I’m supposed to do to entertain her. Wish she had more friends to be busy with!

Yes, I used to run around with the kids after school and I do take her to appts and extra curricular activities but there’s still a lot of downtime. She also doesn’t have sisters, and I just imagine other families having lots of fun family time but we’re so blah these days. I do stay up and play games with her Friday night at least in the winter. Sundays I try to keep her busy with errands. I just keep remembering how much fun we used to be, but how much fun can one teenage girl have with just her parents?
