Ds is 9. He had trouble learning read but with some tutoring he is now reading well. He enjoys reading but complains that it gives him headaches. The eye doctor said that his vision is perfect and doesn't see anybreason for the headaches.
Anyone have advice?

Take him to a real eye examination. Did you go to Lifshitz in Givat Shaul? She's top. There are also private eye specialists for reading.

Same with me when I was a kid. Try Dr Alexander in London or one of his students. That's where I went and the problem was resolved bH

Perhaps take him to an ophthalmologist?

Did you also go to a reading specialist? They can often detect certain things.

I'm in NY. I saw a student in NY, never went to London to him. You might want to call his office and ask for a recommendation in Israel or travel to London just for this as many do

Go to Norman Aronowitz at the above address. He helped two of my kids after Dr Lifshitz said they were fine. One wears prism glasses and one bifocals and bH we've had no further trouble.

I've had several kids who have had similar issues. Often it's convergence issues which cause issues and eye exercises can really help. Do you have Orthoptists in Israel? They specialize in eye exercises. I would recommend seeing someone who specialize in Pediatric Opthamology.

ETA: I know Norman Aranowitz from South Africa. He's very good - and his website says he does just this. One of the questions you will see there is "Does your child complain about headeaches?"

Iny experience in the US a developmental optometrist was more knowledgeable in this area than the top pediatric opthalmologist that I saw

So interesting. My 10 yo has been complaining of headaches for a few years. Also a slow reader, with help etc. Been to the eye Dr who said perfect vision.
I was planning to follow up at her new pediatrician to ask her opinion. Her last pediatrician also said no issues with DD vision.
My specific issue is that my DD is a hypochondriac... So it's very hard to differentiate real from made up... All her aches and pains are "huge" according to her reactions.
I'm going to ask the Dr specifically about other issues besides regular vision. Thanks for asking this question.
