My 2 yr old got scratched by a cat in the forehead. It broke some skin. We think it’s a house cat so has all shots and etc - should I be concerned

Even house cats don’t always have all immunizations and aren’t always so clean/safe. I would call your pediatrician and see what they recommend

Yes, be concerned.
I follow an ER pediatrician on Instagram.
Last week her child got scratched by her own cat & child was immediately put on antibiotics
Eta it may have been a bite. But I still would call pediatrician asap

I'd be worried about bartonella, aka cat scratch fever. There's no shot for that. I'd want my kid on some kind of prophylaxis. You could do herbal prophylaxis.

How do you know it is up to date on all shots?

If the skin is broken, it could cause an infection. Irrelevant if shots are up to date.

If skin is broken from a human scratch, drs often give antibiotics or medicated cream.
So for sure for a cat scratch you should be putting on antibiotics.
Shots don't mean anything. There's a lot of bacteria under nails and a cat that's roaming around on the ground... who knows what it's carrying.
