Yes there are but I couldn't tell you which group. They wouldn't call it minhag though. They consider it Halacha.

some of the direct descendants of the Shalach Hakadosh, Harav Yeshayahu Haleivi Horowitz. They have a kabbalah from him that he saw a turkey eating prey and since we do not eat birds of prey, his descendants should abstain from eating turkey.

These are the people. It's not specific to a sect, rather descendents. But I never heard that explanation, I honestly don't know why.

My sister doesn’t (because her husband is a descendant of the shlah).

Rav Yaakov Kamenetsky and many others did not eat turkey due to the lack of mesorah that it is a kosher bird.

My husband’s family doesn’t. He’s a yekke if that makes a difference.

I'm curious: do they not eat turkey, or do they consider a kitchen that cooks turkey to be unkosher? There's a big difference there

As a descendant of shaloh we don't eat turkey but would eat things even from on same platter as turkey just not the actual turkey and don't consider a kitchen that cooked turkey not kosher at all!

Thank you. May I ask why? Is the "predatory turkey" story not part of your mesorah?

Did your nephew take it on himself? If so, it's not really a family mesorah.

OP I know a chassidish yerushalmi girl who told me that their family and community davka buy turkey from specific hechsherim because it’s “cleaner” than other foul. If I see her again I can ask her about this.

I came here to say this. My brother and his family don't eat turkey but they will eat in a home that does.

It is part of the menorah as the reason we don't eat it but to my understanding the Shaloh didn't declare it not kosher just said he asks that his descendants not eat it. At least that's the way I was told. Which is why we don't eat the actual turkey but I would eat for example salami that was on the same platter as turkey and I would eat in from a kitchen that cooked turkey I just wouldn't eat the actual turkey
