I have been trying to recreate the store bought dips (for challah, sourdough, etc) but somehow, the flavor isn’t right. Has anyone had success with a particular brand? Full fat or low fat?

I’ve found that no other brand tastes nearly as good as Hellmanns.

It's probably not the mayo. Just add tons of sugar if you want the store bought dip taste.

Never low fat for dips. It’s too watery

I find the heimish brands (like gefen, glicks...) are more vinegary, which I find off putting. I like Hellman's or dukes, which are fluffier.

Not a heimishe hechser, though, for those who only eat that.

We find Bowl and Basket (shoprite brand) to be similar to Hellmans and we like it alot. We buy both those brands interchangeably.

I found Kraft Mayo in Walmart
Cheaper and as good as hellmens
But nothing beats homemade
And it’s really easy
1 egg to 1 cup oil
Put in 2 pound container
Add
Tsp lemon juice
Pinch of salt
Pinch of sugar
Use immersion blender til stiff

Yum

This. I used Hellmann's for decades and switched maybe 5 years ago to Gefen light. It's so much better for dressings dips and sauces, textures wise and taste wise. I personally like the Gefen light canola mayo for dressings. Very creamy.
