This is a video from James Borden’s show called “spot the wig”. I knew which one was the lace top within the first minute. In person, I’d probably spot it faster.

I could tell straight away which was the wig, the main tell for me was the way the strand in front his ear fell in an unnatural direction.

I can see why you would say that but to me it screamed lacetop wig from the first glance. All those spikey returns on top, the lace look in the part. Maybe I'm just too familiar with wigs.
In this particular reel it's extremely obvious who's wearing a wig and who isn't. Wig hairlines are much more defined and straighter, no matter how hard you try to trace the natural hairline it can't compete with a natural hairline.

I could tell every wig, if you look at the hairline and parting it's pretty obvious because of how neat it is all the natural hairs in the video had a more uneven hairline.
