Do you think you understand the meaning of the mitzvah of covering hair?

Can you tell me the fundamental reasons on why we cover our hair (if you are knowledgeable in this area or asked a rav…)

Rebbitzen Ruthie Halberstadt's series on hair covering is comprehensive (not halacha, but hashkafa) of why married women cover their hair, what hair is, its power, our power etc.

You can find these shiurim on her app -Ruthie Halberstadt

It was totally mindset-changing for me - and I didn't struggle with covering my hair.

Where does the halacha come from? Is there a source for covering hair?
I never learned any of this

Torah shows the woman had her hair covered and it's humiliating to uncover

Now why, quickly there's down to earth to show we're married
And spiritual to keep the Shechina that goes on the hair during chupa

We learn it in the Torah from the parsha of Sotah that the hair of a married woman is considered Ervah and therefore must be covered.

we learned from our seminary teacher..

the reason we keep our hair covered is plainly because Hashem said to.

people can bring nice reasons or hashkafas behind it - which are all true but the bottom line is because He said too.

(and mind you, He didnt say HOW)

There's a book on hair covering called Hide and Seek. I never knew this but there is an alternate translation to the word paruah used re the sotah and commonly translated as uncovered. The alternate is "disheveled."

But if people rely on that reading not to cover, then it makes sense that the standard is "sheveled." I.e. librarian look?
