Doing baby-led weaning (BLW) with my 8 month old, and it’s going great b”H but makes a huge mess! I pre-load a spoon with food and let him grab it and bring it to his mouth, or I give him finger foods that he holds. I feed him solids twice a day, but I really don’t want to bathe him more than once a day. And yes, we use bibs. Anyone have any advice on how to contain the mess? He also gets the floor, walls, and high chair (and his clothes) dirty lol… do I just accept this as part of BLW?

BLW is messy, no way around that. Just undress him before meals, then wipe down and put his clothes back on.

Bibs, wash by the sink, and wet and dry vaccum for the floor.

When I did baby led weaning, my kids ate in diaper, get a plastic mat to put under the high chair , and preferably a high chair that you can hose down or stick in the shower, like the Ikea one

I tried to do the messiest foods in the evening so I could plop him straight in the tub afterwards. For other meals I tried to do less messy/ drier foods.

What kind of bibs do you use? I always use 2-- one long sleeve smock and a silicon catcher one on top to catch the big stuff. That protects the clothes mostly. Also use a full sized high chair with a big tray if you can because that contains the mess.
