My brother won a car when he was single. He sold it before he got it so he could pay the taxes.

Bh I won 10k in one of those tzedkaha things. 1k to maaser, the rest went straight to a large tax bill. Not sure how I would have paid the taxes without this unexpected 10k.
They also send you a 1099 or whatever it's called for winning so you owe taxes on the winning.
