That's not blood, smarty.

It's a protein called myglobin mixed from water in the meat, and it's delicious.

Sez you. It looks like blood except under a microscope and it's nauseating. It makes you, the eater, look like a caveman.

I've eaten beef tartare and I'd do it again lol. But I voted medium rare even though rare is fine. To me, a well done steak is a shanda. Why waste a steak on that? Just have stir fry meat or something.

We didn't really have proper steak growing up, but my mother would cook the meat well done. It was fine, usually coated in some other sauce or seasoning for flavour. But when I'd help roll the meatballs, I'd sneak-eat some of the meat raw. It was so good! So I guess I started young.

When I'm eating a nice steak, I'm too busy living in the moment and enjoying the taste to care about what other people think I look like. I can't imagine limiting my diet based on other's perception of what one looks like when eating a food.

I only recently learned that medium rare is not raw.. I was watching MasterChef and when Chef Ramsey applauded a medium rare steak when I was sure he'll start fuming that it's raw.
Can someone teach a clueless home cook how to cook a medium or medium rare steak?

I voted rare but I also eat medium rare, but I also love carpacio which is raw meat.

At restaraunts I order medium because in Israel if you order medium rare it's often quite literally raw.

Peas love and carrots has a recipe in her cookbook. Otherwise there's lots of articles online explaining.

I tried an online recipe. not sure if I did it right, but I felt like it's chewy and raw.

Medium rare only, since I’m a little girl
When I got married, I was appalled that my husband’s family ate only well done, and made him try medium rare. He hasn’t looked back since, and has gotten a few of his siblings on our team. His mother however, won’t budge.

Same!! My mil once thought a medium steak was undercooked so she put it in the MICROWAVE. I couldn’t believe it my eyes.

that has to to with the quality of the steak you bought. the cheaper it is the more chewy the meat is.

Well done should be illegal. Fancy restaurants won’t do it for you even if asked, they have a reputation to uphold.

Tartare or medium/rare but not too rare unless it's tartare.

Fav sauce béarnaise

Medium rare with the juice oozing out and crunchy pepper crust… bonus if I bite into the occasional ball of fat that pops like a butter bomb… ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Mouthwatering.

Completely agree. Why waste a nice piece of meat and turn it into a shoe sole?
There are plenty of cuts that supposed to be well done, why not to enjoy them? Short ribs, brisket, flanken. 🤷‍♀️

It’s not a shoe sole, it’s a nice charred crust on the outside and soft in the middle. Much better taste than that copper taste of the blood…
