Wow. I don't know if I could do that but I'm thinking what steps I could take with the inspiration that I'm feeling from your achievement.

Beautiful. Hope to be there someday.

I don’t understand why and how so many women who don’t have a smartphone will have a husband who does. If anything it makes more sense for the opposite. How do you manage with that? My husband needs it for work , there’s no way he’s not having one. It’s definitely filtered, as is my phone. But we use a lot of features together - WhatsApp is super useful for us. Just curious , why and how does it work by you?

I don't have Facebook, Whatsapp, Insta.

I do waste too much time reading imamother : )

Also WAY too much time too close to bedtime. I do all the NYT word games & now a few on Merriam Webster. And I know it's bad bec I often do the Spelling Bee at 3 am.

I mostly watch shiurim online though sometimes while in the kitchen.

However my kids are grown & I don't use the phone when there are people around.

So, on balance, need to cut down. Or juat have more self-control.

Aside from freeing up your mind, how did you go about building your relationship with Hashem?

I’m working on it.
Have no browser, no social media. No App Store. No games.
But I need the camera and email for work.
Every time I try to shut my phone or leave it in the car I miss that call from the dr or whoever I have been waiting for weeks. Wonder if there is a way to put the phone on do not disturb and just leave incoming phone calls.

There is a call forwarding feature in many phones. You can forward the calls to your home number or to a dumb phone.

If you have Samsung you can set up a mode to block whatever apps you want for the time it’s on.

Reading something inspiring before sleeping so my dreams are uplifted
Being kind to husband and children (mitzvoh of veahavta)
Learning halocha as much as possible
Emunah when things don’t go my way
Singing songs about hashem and talking to Him in the car instead of catching up on phone calls. Long trips are longer convos Smile songs help when don’t have anything to talk about.
Working on my middos—not getting annoyed, being in the moment. Smiling when I don’t feel like it (chessed)
Working on happiness from within. Being grateful.
Nagel vasser even when beyond exhausted
Above all else seeing hashem come alive and participate in my journey through what I learn
From chassidus I learned that when you receive an opportunity for a mitzvoh that means its intended for you.

What’s the benefit of a flip phone? Why did you choose that over keeping your smartphone, contacts, etc and just wiping off all apps/browser/email etc?

The less convenient it is to use the less you use it.
