I am thinking weddings, engagement parties, bar and bat mitswot, things like that.
We are both students so we don't have a huge budget so we usually give a multitude of 18, such as 36/81 dollars or 180 NIS but I have the feeling that we are being judged for not giving abundantly.
Both in Israel and abroad, what is the standard?

Youll get such different answers. Im sefardi and my friends give so much (enough to cover their plate). My husband is unemployed and I dont make so much due to medical expenses. I went to a wedding and Im going into debt giving a wedding gift. I feel cheap I am getting her 2 serving bowls and serving utensils from crate and barrel and spending $100. Months where I have money I give a cheque of at least $180 but even thats considered low for my friend group
