Hi sisters, I feel I need some chizuk and advice.
I’ve decided to bite the bullet and quit sugar (since Shabbos so early days). My plan is to avoid all foods where one of the main ingredients is sugar ie cheesecake, cakes, biscuits etc and to only eat when sat down! I’m allowing a few squares of dark chocolate if I feel I really need or protein bar..
So my questions are how to not feel deprived when everyone around me is eating.
How to manage stress or have a boost when the kids are fighting and the house is a mess without turning to sugar.
We are out for one meal so how to be a good guest and refuse the sugar (not sure I’ll manage as she is quite a pushy host and I don’t like hurting peoples feelings when they have made the effort..)
I really want to do this.

After Yom tov?
Maybe reduce rather than quit?
Maybe it more fruit, less sweets?
Fruit salad rather than mousse au chocolat?
No cheesecake, but unsweetend white cheese with fruits?

I guess I’m having honey as a sweetener and fruit.. just trying to avoid normal cakes, biscuits and milky chocolate etc..

As far as treats at home, aside for dark chocolate there's organic halva that you can buy that's sweetened with honey. You can get or make ice pops that are made from pureed fruit or juice. If coconut sugar or date sugar is OK you can make baked goods from mixes or from scratch.
Dried fruit can be a treat. Or fruit leathers.

Perhaps the medical thing though just to say I’m already fairly slim.. and I think she would ask more questions as she quite a bit older and that’s her personality..

In my humble opinion, just telling her before the meal, "Please understand, I'm off sugar right now" will not cause offense. Most hostesses appreciate knowing in advance. She'll probably offer you a non-sugar alternative like a piece of fruit. She may even say, "That's good to hear, I'm trying to do the same!"
