My son went to sleep away camp coming out of 5th (Monsey).
Mostly lakewood boys in that camp.
Coming out of 6th is definitely a popular time to start sleep away, but majority of kids
That go to sleep away start coming out of 7th.
For reference, The camp has three bunks for kids coming out of sixth. They have seven bunks for coming out of seventh and eighth each.

I think coming out of 6th grade is around 50/50, maybe 60/40 with 60% going to sleep away camp.
Coming out of 7th grade is 80% sleep away camp.
Coming out of 8th grade is 90%.
This is in yeshivish Lakewood.
Chassidishe Lakewood I think it's earlier.
