B/P פ/ב are a phonetic pair, B is the voiced phoneme of P. Try it out, both sounds are made with your lips in the same position, P just with air and B with voice. I learned this in high school in Speech and then a few years later did research into it when we named our daughter Basya after my husband's grandmother who's name was Pessa.
Amother steelblue is correct Pesa, Pesha, Basha are derived from Basya.
