I also live in a dying community but wow 30 families - that is SMALL!
Community has had the same issues for years and they're only getting worse, the younger generation is leaving....the reason we're still here is literally because we don't know where to move to!

Is the community doing anything to try to bring in young people to revive it? In your opinion, why did the community shrink?

Can more Frum Jews move in? Prices on Homes? Schools? Is there a Rabbi.
Don't allow the community to die out. Get more Family and friends to move in. Which State are you in?

There are some issues that can be not solveable....I would never encourage anyone to move to my community!

Different (larger) places. Not going to name specific places.
Some of the older families/retirees went to FL or e"y.

Yes, we have a small school. We have a decent kosher section at the local supermarket. The local kosher caterer can order certain items for people as well.

Good question.
Up until now, we have been very idealistic. We want to stay so there will be a frum community to serve the non frum Yidden in the area. In addition, my husband has a very location specific Parnasa, (not all states recognize his licensing ) so we've made very little effort to find a new place. Not sure how much longer we will be able to hold out.
ETA: no relatives here.

what's holding you back from researching other states that will allow reciprocity for your husband's licensure?

do you have kids?

Unfortunately, very little effort has been made. And none of it successful.

The community itself shrank for a number of reasons.
It's kind of hard to pinpoint exactly, but I would say that the lousy school was a big factor. People started leaving because the school suffered from a lack of strong, effective leadership.
That's not the only reason, but it's a big part of it.

Unfortunately, it's not so simple.I really can't encourage people to live here how it is now. There is a wonderful Rabbi, and even he wouldn't encourage people to live here!
Housing us not cheap here (one of the original problems).
