paskunyak alternatively paskenudyak (they don't mean the same thing. A paskunyak is a judgmental person who thinks he knows everything. A paskunydyak is a first class jerk)

ah bitterah (it doesn't mean a embittered person-it means a difficult person who is to be avoided at all costs)

Reposting. Because I think for all the nachas words, pride is still closest.

What's the issue with this translation?
It's not an issue. I just pointed out that there is no word that means זאט

Durechgedringen can be both very deeply hurt

But also absorbed, instilled, permeated, even by osmosis let's say my mom's emunah peshutah is durechgedringen in meine beiner.

Or my zeides mesiras nefesh....

Also, "there's no swear words in yiddish" until I saw a chassidishe guy post an English swear word, written in yiddish on a whatsapp status once....had to laugh
The funniest part was that I was reading it over and over trying to figure out the translation, until it finally clicked Can't Believe It

Uh... there are PLENTY Yiddish swear words...

Yup just like English speakers don't use swear words we don't use them.

But because Yiddish is mostly used only in the frum community nowadays we don't know them.
