(besides, I doubt you tried cooking peas in israel).

It's even easier to use an immersion blender.
My pea soup:
1 large onion, diced
1 bag frozen peas
2 cans peas
chicken consumme
1 tablespoon sherry
salt
pepper
Sautee the onion until soft, add the peas, add water, sherry, chicken consumme.
Once the soup starts bubbling, blend it with an immersion blender.

not only peas, most grains and legumes here take longer to cook. |
Oh.... she's in Israel. Mali I am going to disagree with that baking soda tip because I can't stand the taste and even reduce the amount in baked goods. I have heard many complaints about legumes not softening - I moderate the Israel Food Group. I have never come across that problem here. In fact, the stuff I get here is better than what I was used to in the States. It's important to buy from a place where the stuff is fresh (I buy al hamishkal at a health food store) and I am vey very happy with everything. If you are having trouble, you may want to consider purchasing elsewhere.
