Hugs OP, its such a hard situation to be in and now feel "stuck" with no job. Definitely apply for unemployment while you try to find something else.

I do think that an in-person meeting would have been more respectful, but at the end of the day I dont think you should be upset at the company for letting you go. Like you said, they were not doing well. They have to cut costs to try to save the business. Personally I would have started looking for a new job the second I realized it was failing.. I dont think they should be blamed for needing to make changes if they are losing a lot of money each month.

I get it that sometimes businesses needs to cut costs,
However, since I was a key level employee and put in blood and sweat, I deserve to be Treated like a Human being,
A normal conversation and a notice would make things better,
I just called the COO if I can at least take home my personal belongings,
He declined, saying he will it drop it off,
Seriously?? They make me feel like a Thief or something worse😭

Op, so sorry this happened. It says a lot about a company/boss that fires someone by phone.
I was fired once by whatsapp message. It was terrible. I had zero warning. I thought I had been doing a good job.
But I realized that the way I was fired said so much about my boss and nothing about me.

I don't know if it's any solace but it seems like they're trying very hard to make sure you don't come into the office. Like maybe the place was shut down or something....

I am so sorry they are doing this to you, you should at least have the ability to go in, clear off your computer, etc.

God willing you’ll be hired again shortly. Please learn from this unfortunate situation; unless you are the owner or CEO of a company, you do not put your blood sweat and tears into someone else’s company. Do only the work you paid to do. In 2023, going above and beyond gets you no where.

OP, how old is this boss?

I feel this behavior is more associated with younger generation who feel entitled to "ghost" people when they no longer need them.

The right thing to do is to thank you for your hard work and explain their difficult situation.

Just be a mentch!

Op that is literally disgusting. I’m sorry that happened to you!!!
I don’t know if it makes you feel better but I was actually fired recently too and it was bh the best thing that happened to me. I found a way better job with better hours and better pay and several other things ended up working out for me because of this as well. It may seem like the worst thing that happened to you but iyh you’ll see soon how it’s all for the best!

Sadly, I was promised the World If I bring the company to a better place...

The must crazy part, I keep on getting phone calls all day from vendors etc following up on projects,
The owners didn't even care to give me a chance to send out a transition email.

There is something really wrong with them. They’re not informing vendors about the change, and not allowing you to walk in the building, are very suspicious. I wonder what the real story is here.

If you’re there under 3 months, they probably don’t need to pay the recruiter’s fee. Just a thought.

Can you go back to the recruiter who found you this position? First of all she should know not to do business with them and second of all maybe she’ll find you another position.
