I'm sitting home and literally bawling 😭
I feel so degraded and humiliated ...
Let me give some background, since my DH is sitting and learning I'm the breadwinner at home,
I B"H had a great position and made a nice salary,
A few months ago I was contacted by a recruiter with a good offer to join a new company for a higher salary,
After one week of joining I realized the business is loosing over $100k monthly!! Because they bought a failing deal..

I decided to take the challenge I put in my heart and soul, worked overtime and on Sunday's, I told my DH it's just temporary until things settle at work,
After 2 months we started seeing progress,
Meanwhile I encouraged the owners to get outside help, since we had a hard time hiring staff.

This morning I got a call from the COO that I should stay home, because they Hired an outside company for all my responsibilities, and my work is no longer needed 😞

I asked him if we can have a normal Discussion or a 2 week notice which he declined.
The owners are ignoring my phone calls and the emails are locked 🔒

Can anyone tell me why I deserve this??

Oh my, this is so so horrible & so unprofessional!! Unbelievable!! Awful!! As well as illegal.
Please gather all evidence you can, you may have a case here.
Hugs & luck!
Of course you don't deserve it, it's not you. It's them. What they did is not ok.

Apply for unemployment today. That way you start getting benefits asap.

Obviously they are very flawed people. I hope that someday you can look back at today and see it as an overall positive, because you found a job that was good for your personal growth and your family life BEH.

Legality would depend on where OP lives.

The crazy part is I just realized my offer letter stating "at will employment"

In other words- no reason is needed to fire you on the spot

How is it illegal? Employers are not required to provide 2 weeks notice. Neither are employees although that’s the standard.

I think this is the case for most jobs.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this stress. I don’t think it’s worth your time chasing after your employer. Look into if your old job would take you back, apply for unemployment, write up a resume… there’s a lot to do.

Hugs op! Really nasty and horrible thing to do!!
Please realize that you dodged a bullet big time.
Hashem will help you find something better beezras Hashem quickly and without too much pain.
Please also take a lesson from this not to invest yourself too much into someone elses business. It just makes what they did so much more painful. You sound like a loyal hard worker, those are the ones that suffer.
Hugs op and let us know when your yeshua comes!

It was really stupid and short sighted for them to do this to you. They don’t even know if this new company will work out.

Based on what you’ve written they aren’t very business savvy. I wouldn’t be surprised if after a few weeks they tried begging you to come back.

Not the same, but once at work someone else at work did something that hurt me. Until then my boss had seemed nice and supportive, so I expected her to back me up, especially as the person who hurt me was an outsider, not one of her employees. Instead, she called me to berate me and threaten to fire me if something like that happened again. I was pregnant and it was in Israel where it is almost impossible to legally fire pregnant woman, so it's possible I would have even been fired if I hasn't been pregnant. Yeah, it hurt so bad.

The upside is that it was a wake up call that work is work. I was investing too much in my work, hoping to feel important and meaningful. I quit that job and now prioritize my family. When I told one of my friends what happened, she said a sentence to me that I won't ever forget "you are just a cog in the machine" at work.

Can you go back to the recruiter who found you this position? First of all she should know not to do business with them and second of all maybe she’ll find you another position.

This is absolutely awful and probably is a huge shock to your system. Give yourself the permission to feel hurt ,worried , betrayed , whatever those feelings are .
Give yourself the grace you need before jumping to apply to unemployment, contacting recruiters etc.
It’s Thanksgiving weekend , and many businesses will be closed anyway. So be kind to yourself until the weekend is over and may HaShem send you the yeshua and job that’s right for you , speedily.

I would consider myself lucky. The company was falling apart and they had the nerve to hire you anyway. Then, the bigwigs don't even have the courage to handle your letting go in a businesslike or professional way. This is them, not you, no wonder their company is failing.

You're being fired this way says NOTHING about you! You seem like a hard-working gem and the next company you work for will be lucky to have you.

So sorry for this pain.

Hugs OP, its such a hard situation to be in and now feel "stuck" with no job. Definitely apply for unemployment while you try to find something else.

I do think that an in-person meeting would have been more respectful, but at the end of the day I dont think you should be upset at the company for letting you go. Like you said, they were not doing well. They have to cut costs to try to save the business. Personally I would have started looking for a new job the second I realized it was failing.. I dont think they should be blamed for needing to make changes if they are losing a lot of money each month.

OP, I'm so sorry that this happened. It's very insulting and feels personal, particularly since you were trying so hard. This happened to me with a Jewish organization a few days before covid. It was humiliating and hurtful. In the end, it pushed me to work in my field of training and to admit I wasn't happy at the other job. Three years down the line, I've received a significant promotion and a large pay raise. I was afraid to leave the other job. Thankfully, their really unmentschlich actions got me to a much better place. I hope that is your experience as well.

Cowards. Lowlifes. Pathetic excuses for human beings.

You don't deserve this at all. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. May you soon find a position suitable to your abilities with employers deserving of your character.
